Grendel

It would be really interesting if there was an essay or a book from another character's point of view. For example, the story could be told rorm Tilly's point of view, or Shivs's. Then we would have more insight into whether or not Jess was crazy, as well as better understand unanswered questions.

  1. Having a book written from a differnet perspective would really clarify Jess's problems

  2. I think that if it was from say another child it wouldn't have been as intelligent because jess seemed advanced for her age. If it was from an adult's point of view it would have given a completely different idea of jess.

  4. i dont think it could be from an adults point of view bc i dont think theyd be open to any of the "three worlds" stuff

  5. It would have to be written by a child to give a comparison between a normal child and Jess.

  7. It would be interesting to have it written from TillyTilly's perspectice because even if she isn't real, it would show how strange Jess's mind is. But if she was real then it would show what was going through TillyTilly's head

  8. Any of Jess' friends like Shiv or Caroline would have the same opinion about Jess. They all know she has her little problem and would all judge the book by its cover.

  9. SHivs is a beastly good friend. Tilly not so much

  10. I think that if it was from another person's point of view it might not be as interresting because Jess actually sees Tilly and no one else can...but it would be nice if there was a companion to Jess's point of view that showed what was really happening.

  11. It's called Grendel because there is a book called Grendel that retells the Beowulf story from the monster's point of view. Telling IG from TT's pov would be from the monster's pov too. Parker, nice connection.

  12. I agree and think that if the book was tol from another child's point of view we would see things that Jessy may have left out and get an insight of what the other kids actually thought of her. I think it would be really confusing if it were told from TillyTilly's point of view because of how spacey and and unreal she seems.

  13. yea oyemi never really describes her problems well so a book from her prespective would work.

  14. 1. Nice connection Parker i understood it after i had it explaned. I agree with Alex an adults point of view would be skewed but in fact the wasnt it an adult that talked about the three worlds. Sarah talked about it. I know that to be inside jess it couldnt be any other way and i agree with all, but for the sake of this blog and adding ideas to the pot I think Jess' mom said something about the 3 worlds and she is an adult but she still doesnt understand JEss. Also i agree with Rudy there should be a companion and also I agree with BH but Jess' mind is pretty weird too..remember that glass scene and the time where she rubs a "hot coal" over her mouth...I TOtally think Tilly is weirder..great post

  15. If we could see how the people around view Jess then it would be possbile figure her out. She could possibly leave out an important detail that would reveal a serious problem.
