What was the reason Shakespeare put in the introduction part with Christopher Sly besides for Doug to read? It seems to have nothing to do with the rest of the play.
i agree with Devin, Shakespeare did this a lot in his plays, having funny little subplots on the stage to have some comic relief for the audience, especially in tragedies
though i cannot understand a single word in this play... i would have to say that it is a renaissance version of a comedy movie where the plot is small and simple but it keeps the audience well in it with its humor
Ya it is to setup the frame story(which is the play that they're performing for Christopher Sly). I guess the reason why Shakespeare made the introduction was to be humerous
it's just supposed to be an unimportant little skit that compliments the main plot and makes audiences laugh more
