Parker - you should actually read the blog and check out other people's posts. Kevin's post might have given you some insight. I definately don't think he was "full of himself," I think he felt passionately about what he was speaking of and is educated and articulate. He was a professor, so was used to presenting information in a certain way. And remember, the interview was probably much longer that what we saw, and the producer had it edited together in a certain way to present the information in the way he wanted it presented.
that's true ms. deckard. it just seemed to me like he spoke of the tpoics presented to him as if he was better than us. it was just a vibe i was getting.
I don't think he sounded full of himself. I think that he was very knowledgable about the subject and wanted to convey to everyone the consequences of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.

No, I don't think that he was. I think that he was just trying to tell his experience in his community. He can't really be hypocritical if he is criticizing what he knows.
I don't think he was full of himself. I'm guessing Parker got this impression from the way he spoke in the interview. I think that his scholarly speech was just kind of difficult to adjust to. Because he spoke like he was teaching, I can understand how Parker felt this way. I don't think Parker's thoughts were unwarranted, but I understand that Erdrich's husband was very intelligent and articulate.
I think he was very knowledgable about the subject and just spoke with more passion then most people would just because he has dealt with this issue first hand with his son.
maybe one of the factors in why he ended his life..he had too many frayed ends and turmoil?...check out my post
