The Dante article reminded me of the ending of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, in which the protagonist Raiden uncovers an Illuminati organization known as the Patriots, who run the US by censoring and controlling the flow of digital info.By doing so, they hope to create context and truth from half-truths being spread, inevitably creating social progress and reigniting human evolution. "The Waste Land" is even quoted- "And this is the way the world ends. Not with a bang but a whimper".

ReplyDeleteThat does indeed sound like it is from dante. I wonder if the game makers intended it that way or it was just a coincident, lots of things like that seems to happen.
