Metamorphosis Haikus

Gregor's Mother's POV
My dear son Gregor
Who once was so dear to me
Now a bug I see

Gregor's POV
Is it only me?
who can't seem to understand
my father's disgust?

Grete's POV
Gregor supported
My conservatory dream
What will I do now?

Gregor's Father's POV
Once my only son
Changed into an ugly bug
Now nothing to me

  1. More Haikus.....

    Spindly little legs
    Support my grotesque body
    Barely support me

    Stare out the window
    Isolated in darkness
    Where did beauty go

    The violin sings
    Grete's talent goes unnoticed
    Gregor yearns for her

  2. More Haikus...

    Was Kafka depressed?
    His strong self-hatred suggests
    He needed Prozac

    Harsh modernity
    Kafka shows in his writing
    It's effects on him

    Grete loved her brother
    Until he was a burden
    Then she hated him

    Are we all Gregor?
    Is his pain universal?
    Felt in unique ways?

    Is it natural...
    My mother's strong repulsion?
    Or is it my fault?

    "How dare you Gregor!"
    his father thinks constantly
    Engulfed in anger

    Sad Kafka was spared,
    dead before the Holocaust,
    though his life was dark
