Olivia, in the first couple of circles, he faints all the time when going to the next level. I don't know the exact reason, but it's not a nap.

    He faints because he gets overwhelmed with pity. He sympathizes with the lustful, because he was somewhat lustful with Beatrice. He realizes that it could be him, so he faints.
