Is Barry an antagonist or protagonist?

Do you think later on in the book Barry is going to help Edgar or is he just going to be a barrier for him?

    I think Barry will help Edgar.For right now he seems like the only one who truly cares about him and his health. So in the end he may become a father figure to Edgar.

    well as we said in class yest, on page 73, when barry gives the "light dry kiss on the forehead between the eyes" it resembles a bullet between the eyes which forshadows that he may become the enemy...
