Symbols To Look For

What are some symbols that you think might be reoccuring throughout the book.

    A symbol that reoccurs alot is negligence. Edgar's mom neglects him early in the book and while he is in the hospital, with exception of Dr.Barry, no one really cares for Edgar.

    Negligence isn't a symbol, it is a theme or a motif - a repeated idea. Symbols are things, people, names, objects, colors - nouns generally.
