thats a good reason for why it could be Marie, but maybe they want you to think that so you can not think of someone else. They never mention her except at the beginning and maybe it could be John's birth mother. They took her baby away and maybe she is trying to kill white men to find John. i dont know just a thought
its not marie because it says in the chapter about the killer that the college kids described the figure as a man and the person had to be strong enough to pick up summers and throw him over their shoulder and carry them pretty far. i think the killer could be mathers
idk, i dont see marie as the kind of person who would be able to kill somone that brutally, andl ike lawrence said, and throw him over her shoulder, and walk with him, without those college kids being like "whoa that chick is strong"
I fully agree with Lawrence. I first thought that it could be Marie until we talked about it in class, and I realized that she would not be strong enough to carry the body over her shoulder like that.
So, we’ve established that the killer can not be Marie. So who else could it be? Or what if the killer isn't a character that has been introduced elsewhere in the novel? Maybe the killer is only tied into the novel because of the people he kills. It’s just a thought. I don’t think we’ll ever find out who the killer is, actually. What do ya’ll think?
Marie can definitely be the killer, but I think that it might be Reggie, because the narrator says that it's a guy when David sees him, but who knows, maybe David didn't see him clearly and it was actually a girl.

The killer could be a lot of the characters. I think Sherman includes ponytails on the killer and on many of the other characters to throw us off.
