Merliton is a plant that is indigenous to the New World, just like corn, cranberries, avacado, squash, tomatoes, and many types of beans. If you mean that merliton was domesticated by Native Americans, then yes, it "comes" from "Indians."

I didn't know they came from indians either. its cool to know that these come from indians because i eat merliton dressing all the time
