Othello and Desdemona's marriage
I was wondering what some of y'all thought would happened if Iago never intervened, which eventually led to Othello murdering Desdemona. Do you think Othello's rashness in his decision making would have led to their seperation eventually, or do you think they would have lived happily ever after as they did before Iago arrived?

Well personally i think that desdemona and othello have the potential to last together, had they been given the chance. There are arguments about this however because as Iago puts it, people tent to go towards their own kind, so maybe they wouldnt have worked out because of that. There is also the fact that they do not know each other very long before getting married, they are still idealizing love. But I feel like Desdemona is so innocent and pure and Othello is so trusting and rational that neither of them would become suspicious/ cheat on each other/ fall in love with someone else. That's just my opinion.
I think even if Iago didn't interfere, Desdemona and Othello would not last. Desdemona married Othello to show her father she could make her own decisions. This is not to say she did not truly love Othello, but married him in spite of her father's disapproval. Not to mention, it does not bode well that Othello did not trust Desdemona. Othello listened to Iago, a "friend", and not his own wife. A husband has to have strong feelings about his wife to strangle her.
Othello and Desdemona seemed like they really loved eachother unconditionally. In my opinion, this love is what drove Othello mad when he was lied too.
i think Iago acted as a catylist in that without him, Othello would have distrusted her eventually, but he would not have gone to the same extent of killing without his "honest" friend.
