Jim Thorpe is one of the greatest atheletes of all time. He went to the Olympics and also played football for the Carlisle Indian School. This is his official website.

I looked up some things about Jim Thorpe. He was part Native American and part European American. He grew up in the Sac and Fox nation in Oklahoma. Also he apparently played on many all American teams and was a professional basketball player with a team made up entirely of Native Americans. In 1950 he was named the greatest athlete of the first half of the twentieth century. However even though he seems great he apparently had many problems that we heard about in the movie that other people did. He eventually got into alcohol and couldn't keep a job.
