My favorite is Icarus Girl because I love books like this where you can form your own ideas about what's really going on in the story. I also really loved Where the Red Fern Grows, A Day No Pigs Would Die, and Dracula.

I agree with emily. Gatsby was awesome. Fitzgerald epidomizes the "Lost generation" in his novel.

I agree with Thomas. I adore the metaphorical use of the green light across the bay.

do you really adore it? my favorite part is how he relates the area where the gas station is to elliot's wasteland.

Great point, Thomas. The underlying refrences in that novel are absolutely brilliant. The dramatic irony of that situation is also very intriguing.

My favorite was grendel because of the action and gore. I also thought it had a good story line and plot and symbols.

I'm torn between Grendel and The Catcher in the Rye.

who is NITSudd? I love Gatsby though i forgot some of the symbols and meaning but I love the green light thing that PB said. I ALSO LIKE Grendel for the same reasons Taylor did and Catcher in the Rye was relate-able in some ways and was good teen novel. Beowulf trailer looks not too exciting and the CGI realism looks weird but I want to see it after I read it. BEOWULF V Grendel+anthony hopkins+ Brangelina Jolie

My favorite book from high school was Lord of the Flies too. I think that book might have been one of the things that got me so into culture, and eventually lead me to go to grad school for Anthropology.

I had to read "A Perfect Day for Bananafish" by J.D. Salinger in 10th grade, and that's certainly stayed with me.

I also loved The Turn of the Screw by Henry James - read it! Super!

Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby hands down. I relate the characters and situations to people i know all the time. I think that makes a book worth reading--being able to identify with its content.
