So I thought it was really interesting that the Mormon missionaries had to spend their own money on their missions. I would think the church would pay for it. On wikipedia, it says that unless they suddenly decide to be a missionary, they save up money their whole childhood just to go on the missions that cost $400 a month! I thought that was interesting.

Yeah, while they were speaking to my class I asked them how they were supposed to make and spend money while they were on missions and they said that they save a lot of money first. It's a weird concept, but at the same time it isn't anything like a spanish emersion trip where all is included. they are doing a service for God and therefor they take care of themselves so they aren't a burden on anyone else.
