we analyzed this painting in my art history class at pratt over the summer. It has to do with her divorce. She is two different people, an independent woman (on the right) and the romantic woman she was with her husband (on the right). He cheated on her a lot and she looked the other way for the most part but then he had sex with her sister and that crossed the line and they divorced. This really tore them both up. This painting symbolized how she was the one who helped her through the divorce as well as the strain that was put on her heart. Theres a lot more to it, I just don't want to be an "overachiever," - robert. I'm pretty sure this is what that painting is about though.
