i was wondering how this painting by peter b lumes is surrealist? it is a good painting and has lots of detail but nothing seems out of place. what do you think

But the house is out of place. (and the dachsunds?). I think that Blume's painting is paying homage to Frank Lloyd Wright, but also commenting on the fact that the house itself is unlikely, and thus as if a surrealist work of art has been dropped into the landscape. Follow this link to see a photo of the house: link.

i think the large number of dogs and people, as well as the fact that water is flowing from the house, means that life is flowing from there. the abundance of green trees and a farm also backs up this assumption.

There also appears to be two people intertwined in the foilage in the middle of the picture

I agree that the house is out of place. The house looks somewhat modern and it is surrounded by nothing but nature.
