Gemellarity is the concept of twinness and it relates to the book because of characters in the novel that are opposites of each other but complete eachother. For example, Nector and Eli.
another example of twins in the book is lulu and moses. while they are not in fact what we would consider twins, there personalities render them as twins. the article that we read on gemellarity states that native american twins are seen as opposites which erdrich shows through moses and lulu, for lulu is considered a coyote and her element is earth while moses is symolic of a lynx and his element is water.

Aurelia and Zelda are also an example, the letters of their names are the first and last letters of the alphabet

since gemellarity means gemini which is the concept of twin-ness, this is a big theme throughout the book--pairs come up constantly
