Can anyone draw parallels with what we are learning about now and the Civil Rights Movements? What are some similarities with the Blacks and the Indians during their reforms?
I think they are similar in that both the blacks and the Native Americans have definitely went through struggles in America. They have both were looked down on by the whites. The whites decided they were better than the indians and the blacks.
i agree in the fact that indians and african americans went through similar oppression. i see a difference in how they react though. african american people created black history month, BET, and many sorts of other recognization programs. Indians on the other are much quieter about there oppression and do not make as a deal about things anymore. Although they still do not make a big deal out things now, they should have stood up for themselves more during their time of oppression.
I think they are similar but the I feel like a lot more people caused a commotion when it came to the oppresion of blacks. They were slaves and even after their oppresion was supposed to be over, things have not completely changed. The Indians also did not come together with different tribes in anything we have read to make a joint effort.
the one thing i notice taht is similar about indians and black people is that they are both discriminated against because of their race. Even though it doesnt really go on much anymore, they can both still complain about being suppressed in the past.
there are lots of similarities between the two. but i agree with brittany that it seems as though a bigger deal is made about the black slaves, or it's at least more recognized and discussed
I think that they both have a lot of similarities because they are obviously both fighting for equal rights in a country that has been their home for centuries. I really saw a similarity between the two movements because of the fact that they both took charge of having a decent education system.
another similarity between them was the type of school they went to run by the governments and they were much different then the type of education white people
