This painting is rather odd. Medea looks bored, rather than contemplative. Or perhpas she knows she's going to kill her kids, and she's rather over the whole horror bit and has moved on to more important things, such as how to save herself by fleeing to Athens.
Anyway, beautiful painting though Medea's facial expression doens't quite make sense to me.
I agree with Emily.
Medea's face is actually rather interesting.
I think that maybe she has already decided to kill her children and has like shut off her connection with them so when she does end up killing her children, she doesn't have such a strong connection she once had.
