mardi gras indians -victory or tragedy

Mardi Gras is full of secrets and the Mardi Gras Indians are as much a part of that secret society as any other carnival organization. The Mardi Gras Indians are comprised, in large part, of the blacks of New Orleans' inner cities. They have paraded for well over a century...yet their parade is perhaps the least recognized Mardi Gras tradition.

i agree that they are not as recognized as they should be because they are very interisting and their costumes are very intricate

their population has also greatly diminished since Katrina, i dont think they number more than a couple dozen

Jordan, just a little research on-line and you would have realized that you are wrong about the number of M.G. Indians in N.O. This site lists 45 Mardi Gras Indian tribes, all of which have numerous members. Since Katrina there are fewer Indians creating new suits each year, but the tradition is still active and vibrant.
