train of thought

Indian Killer, out of the three novels we have read this year, is the best for train of thought.  Alexi depicts his life so perfectly that the reader feels as if they are in that scene, and that moment, experiencing the characters wants and feelings.  How many people can relate to Alexi's story, because of how particular his descriptions are?

I feel that the descriptions are well thought out, but do people really describe things to themselves in their head? I think that the sporadic chapters of the previous two books are more like regular thought.
