Statement vs. essay for colleges...

Alright, so i was wondering what some other people are doing when a college asks for a statement rather than an essay because most of the colleges that i'm applying to have sent me online applications that don't require an essay. any thoughts on what the difference between an essay and a statement is?

yeah i have that problems too, but the statement for mine asks like for something defining myself and what made me this way or something like that , and my essay i wrote in class is about how going to camp has changed me so i'm goign to use that for my statement. i think its kind of enterchangeable they just use the word "statement" to make our lives more miserable and confusing

At the Oglethorpe meeting, Philip said that if you receive special applications online, you should fill those out. He said that they are already aware of our writing skills from our grades in English class. I'm kind of hesitant to submit an application without an essay, but if I receive a special application that waives the essay, I'm going to do it.

yeah i agree with Stephanie, and i think that the personal statement is just like a shorter version of your essay. i was just going to use my essay i did for class and make it shorter.

i think that stephanie is right in saying its pretty much the same thing but more vague in order to confuse us
