Barry gives Edgar his stethiscope. Does anyone else find it odd that Barry gives his most prized pocession to Edgar when he isn't even related to him?

yes, even though Barry treats Edgar like a son he does have a strange connection with him. At the beginning of the book i didn't think Barry was wrong just misunderstood and now as the book goes on his unstable health is apparent and he could be a threat to Edgar.
I think Barry is just somewhat obsessive over Edgar. I dont think its really weird that hes giving edgar all these things, he just really really wants Edgar to like him and come live with him. barry is pretty much losing his mind.
no im not surprised. Barry is living through edgar. his entire life is about drugs and Edgar. because of this im not surprised at all that Barry wants to give Edgar all of his stuff.
i didn't think that him giving his stethoscope to Edgar was such a big deal. He is a drug dealer now and can't be a doctor anymore.So it is somewhat useless to him unless he wants to look like a Doctor (so its more like a prop for him now). I think he wanted to impress Edgar since kids are always like "Ooo he is a doctor!!! I want his stethoscope so I can pretend to be one too!". SO he assumes Edgar is like that too.
i didnt think it was weird. Barry treats Edgar as if he is his own son and it seems that he wants to adopt him too bc he freaked out when Edgar told him the Madsens wanted to adopt him. But from the looks of it things are getting pretty interesting now since Edgar and Alan found Lana and Barry kissing uhhohhh
Well Barry gives his "prized" possession to Edgar because he wants his trust and love. Barry tires to convince that everything that Barry gives to Edgar has special meanings to him, and now he tries to give them to Edgar. Most of the gifts are made up anyways, like the mitt and the baseball, the firetruck.
yea i agree with bo, barry is just trying impress edgar right now and if he has to sacrifice his stethoscope to do it, so be it.
i don't find it odd because the thing that Barry wants most in the world is to have Edgar as his adopted son.
i think Barry was so obsessed and manipulative towards edgar that his stethescope did not hold as much importance to him as it once did. his drug abuse and addiction took over his life more than his education and profession
i know this is an older thread, but did anyone else notice that when Barry was dead Edgar tried to use the stethoscope to find a heartbeat, and this was the last time it was talked about.
