Do you think that the ending of The Miracle Life of Edgar Mint was rushed or brief?
I mean, after all the terrible things that he went through, it seemed like he would have been more than happy to describe his happiness, but he doesn't.
Well for one thing, his story shows what a life like his is compared to anyone else's (We think our lives are crap when there can be so much worse- what I think Udall is saying). I'm glad that the author created a story that describes how the 3 of the 4 locations had such an effect on him with all the details included. In the end he gets a second chance at a second life.
I do think the ending was brief but I don't think it was rushed. Edgar writes what happened to him after he finds Rosa but he doesn't elaborate on it. His life with Rosa is simple and happy. It’s also closure for Edgar. The brief ending is juxtaposed to the longer, more detailed writings of Edgar's earlier days. The brevity of the ending further shows the difference between Edgar’s days at St. Divine’s, Willie Sherman, and Richland and his days at Stony Run. I like the ending, though I did not like the book as a whole.
I don't think Udall went as in depth about the ending and his happiness as he did with the depression and hard times and he could of streched out the endning more
WEll at the end of the book, the next 13 years of his life are kind of uneventful if you remember. There's no need to describe in great detail all the normal everyday things he does during this time. I like the way Udall wrote this part. It makes me happy for Edgar that he finally found some normalcy.
I agree with Andrew. THe book is long because you read all these terrible things that happen to Edgar. But in the end he finally is having a life without tragedy, and so all he would be able to describe is the normal life. No point in dragging that out

i think it was rushed. I think it should have been more balanced between the bad events occured in Edgar's life and the good.
