Circle 8 bolgia 5

Does anyone understand why Malacoda offers Dante a safe passage to the next bolge, and what happens when the Navarrese tricked the demons? If he jumps back into the pitch, then how does he escape?

In Bolgia 5 The deamons are trying to trick Dante and Virgil, so when the scuffle breaks out after two of them try to tourture a soul, Virgil sees it as a time to escape, however all of the Bridges to Bolgia 6 are broken, then Virgil and Dante slide down to Bolgia 6. The demons can't follow them because they are not allowed to go into that ditch.

i think he offers it because he knows that if he denies Virgil he would get into trouble. though sense he is a demon and is evil he has to put SOME trickery into it. Malacoda dosent go into the pitch. He chooses 10 demons to travel with Virgil and Dante. The reason why the two (i think Grizzly and some other one that started with an H) jump towards the pitch is because their pride has been hurt (they don't think a human could trick them). So the to end up catching each other instead of the Navarrese and they fall into the pit. Grizzly and H cant get out because of the sticky tar or whatever that is stuck on their wings so the other demons have to fly down and get them out of there (i think Curlybeard or something was chosen by Malacoda as the main demon to lead the group of 10)
