Google search: 2012

At the end of the trailer for 2012 it leaves the instructions for everyone to google search that year. Well, when I did this, I came across a lot of really crazy links and websites, and here is one of the google images that came up. You will notice the mayan doomsday calendar at the bottom, a beam of light descending from a space ship of extraterrestials. I think this beam of light is meant to be the solar allignment that has been predicted consistently throughout the ages.

What makes this movie so special besides the 'mysticism' of 2012? You could pick better doomsday movies to watch, Maryclaire

That's crazy and scary. What do you think people will do in 2011... a cult will probably come out of that if there is not one already.

Lex, this doomsday film is the only one with consistent historical references. But good try

Consistent references? Such as?

Okay Lex:
1) your astromical and scientific proof: The date December 21st, 2012 A.D. (13.0.0.0.0 in the Long Count), represents an extremely close conjunction of the Winter Solstice Sun with the crossing point of the Galactic Equator (Equator of the Milky Way) and the Ecliptic (path of the Sun), what that ancient Maya recognized as the Sacred Tree. This is an event that has been coming to
resonance very slowly over thousands and thousands of years. It will come to resolution at exactly 11:11 am GMT.
2)Your first historical reference, not to mention the most popular: The Long Count Calendar of the Ancient Mayans ends on Dec 21 2012. There isn't much information regarding what the Mayans thought would occur in 2012, but the consensus of opinion is that there will be great change.
3)Next, you have historical phrophesies from that of the famous European "see-er" Nostradamus:the years 2009 through 2012 are explained in precise detail. Referred to by Nostradamus as the Time of Troubles, this period is full of war, despair, and evil
4) Merlin and Einstein are also included in this plethora of proof, but need I say more Lex?

Ok, but Nostradamus's writings are so vageue that they could be applied to anything

Okay, so take out Nostradamus... you still have multiple other sources.
