There are tons of sites on line about cults. To search for good information, use search terms like "watchdog group cults". When you get to a page, go to the "about us" section and see who has compiled the info - are they monitoring cults or trying to bring people back to Christianity? Use easywhois.com to see who pays the bills for the site you find. You may discover that the site doesn't have legitimate information.

http://www.cultawarenessnetwork.org/, and this http://www.rickross.com/, and this one has a list of cults that you could then look up on Wikipedia
http://www.watchman.org/cat95.htm
It's hard to just search for "cult" on google and get something worthwhile. Use this search term "intitle:cults site:gov" It will return hits only at US government sites. If you want, switch "site:gov" to "site:org" and get .org hits for cults.
