For Mr. Udall
Mr. Udall, if you read this, could you please comment on your influences? What is your background with Mormonism? How do you think you so effectively captured the thoughts and the imagination of both a 9-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy? What was your inspiration for the conclusion of the book? The book was fantastic, and I love how you close the book.

Well, I finally figured out how to sign onto this blog after a few failed attempts. My biggest influence is Mark Twain. I love his ability to combine pathos and humor. It was very important to me to make the thoughts and perceptions of Edgar as realistic as possible, so I spent a lot of time trying to remember what it was like to be 9 yrs old. And as for the conclusion of the book, there was no inspiration, really. About halfway through writing it I realized how the book should be ended and it was a great relief--so I guess it was a kind of insipiration. Thanks for the questions, and the kind words.
