What do you think the real reason is that Dr. Barry Pinkley is trying to get Edgar out of St. Divine's? Does he really want to help take care of him? Does he really want to find Edgar's mother?

Barry Pinkley may seem like a "good doctor" but I think he sees Edgar as his accomplishment and has some kind of selfish reason for checking on him so much. I think he cares if Edgar is ok but I also think there is a secret motive behind is late night visits.

I meant to say his late night visits.

I think Dr. Pinkley does not care about his patients at all. He gets Edgar a present, a tractor, even though Edgar doesn't even like it. He becomes a mean for Art and Jeffrey to gets drugs and alcohol. I don't think a doctor dealing with an alcoholic and a drug addict should be feeding his patients with these substances. I think he is going to be the antagonist, even though we don't see it yet.

The line at the end of pg 73. "bent down and left a light, dry kiss on my forehead, right between my eyes." between the eyes is like a bullet between the eyes, implying Barry as an enemy for Edgar.

I think that Dr. Pinkley might be using Edgar somehow to maybe get his job back. He seems so desperate by climbing through the window late at night. On the other hand, he might just be a lonely guy who actually is worried about Edgar and wants to take care of him.
