i think Barry is attached and trying to be better to Edgar than his foster parents were to him. Barry thinks he owes it to himself for saving edgars life i think. i also think there is something important at the end we havent read yet.
"Louisiana Revised Statutes § 14:40.2 Stalking. Amended 2005.
Stalking is the intentional and repeated following or harassing of another person that would cause a reasonable person to feel alarmed or to suffer emotional distress."
Eight percent of women and two percent of men in the United States have been stalked at some time in their lifetime (Tjaden, April 1998).
More than 13 percent of the respondents in a national survey of college women indicated that they had been stalked. The average length of a stalking incident was 60 days (Fisher, 1999).

I use to think Barry was just trying to help Edgar and that he was a really nice guy but now i think Barry is a stalker and he has definitely crossed the line. Now i think he is creepy and should stop obsessing over Edgar
I don't think Barry is attached to Edgar because he saved his life. If Barry saved Edgar's life then what more can Barry do? I don't think he can ever do anything for Edgar that is greater than that. I don't think Barry owes him anything.
I think that Barry is really just trying to live vicariously through Edgar. I don't think he knows that what he is doing is wrong and creepy.
