When I first read about Dr. Pinkly I thought he was just an obsessive pervert. But the more i read about him, the more I realize that he means well and just wants to prevent Edgar from having a childhood of his own.
agreed, bobby. i keep going back and forth on this one. im trying to put aside the fact that he's a drug dealer and consider the possibility that he actually cares about edgar, but im not convinced
i don't think he cares about edgar as a person. i think he is a bad influence for him because he is a drug dealer and he's selfish. he doesnt care about edgar's feelings.
while i do think that barry does feel a connection with edgar and does want to help him because they both have had similar childhoods, and barry does not want edgar to feel alone like barry so clearly did as a child, i think that barry's main motive is for selfish reasons, to only better himself. i think that he wants to see edgar succeed in life to show that his "miracle" that he made is happy in life. edgar is barry's only success and only proof that he was a savior.
I think he had good apropriate intentions for Edgar in probably the first 30 pages of the book but his character in my mine has continually deteriorated from there. I think the dude needs a life and to be worrying about someone his own age or maybe himself. I'd rather just not see or hear about him for the rest of the book unless he's dead.
Yea the guy has some weird obsession over Edgar now. Its almost like he is a pedefile. I'm nervous for Edgar to see what is going to happen in the rest of the book

I can't decide if he is a good man with good intentions or a child molester.

"he means well and just wants to prevent Edgar from having a childhood of his own." What does that mean, Doug?
