i think the elders had a pretty big impact of edgar's life because religion is such a big theme throughout the book and the elders were the ones that started edgar's point of view on religion
AH HA, i agree emily, but i think barry has the biggest impact on young edga's life because he was such a creep, and while he looked out for edgar, more importantly he proved to him everything a man shouldnt do.
I think Barry has had the most impact on Edgar's life although it has been a negative one because he has been there at almost every stage of Edgar's life.
I think Rosa had the biggest influence in Edgar's life because she was the first person to really love Edgar for who he was unlike Barry and the elder's. With Rosa, Edgar was finally able to just be happy and feel at home.
the mail man had a pretty big effect on edgar because he felt determined to find him and tell him that he was alive so the mailman didnt feel bad for killing him. When he was with the mormons, he thought that his purpose in live was to find the mormons. Even though Edgar never met him, the mailman influenced Edgar alot and made him determined to get to stony run
I think Barry had the most influence on Edgar. Barry was the one who had the most power to manipulate Edgar. Even though it's not influence in a positive way, it still existed. Barry influenced edgar to do things he wasn't comfortable with and that he didn't want to and even when he tried to get away from it all Barry found ways to reel Edgar back to him
i think that while barry was a major part of edgar's life, he didnt really force edgar to do anything. edgar just did it because he felt guilty. Barry does lure him into his life with several things like the mailman and such though.
i think barry has the most influence on Edgar's life because he is the only one who has been there for most of it. although it is not a good influence Edgar's grows up with a really good example of what not to be like!
I think that Barry has a big influence on Edgar because he is constantly in his life, however, I think that Art is a great influence on Edgar as well. Even though art isn't always present in Edgar's life, Edgar constantly thinks about him and continues to write to him without any response for years.
I think the elders do because of where the book goes after they introduce him to the mormon faith. if it had no tbeen for them then there is no telling what edgar would have done or where he would have gone. The mormons were edgars way out.
I don't think there's any one character in particular, but Cecil, Nelson, and Barry seem to have had a significant influence on Edgar. Cecil shows Edgar that it is possible to stand up for what you believe is right. Nelson teaches Edgar how nasty people can be. He teaches him not to put up with anyone's crap. Barry does the same.

i also agree with Ben and Stephanie while Barrys influence is not a good one, he definetly has the biggest affects on Edgar through out his life

i think religion had the biggest impact on edgar because it called him out to go through with the quest of the book
